Forbes, a century old, American business magazine, has educated and inspired a multitude of people by publishing articles on topics such as finance, industry, marketing, technology, communications, science and politics. And among the thousands of topics covered, there have been many that have addressed the concept of time.
Time is the ultimate non-renewable resource, the one thing we all wish we had more of and the very same thing we too often take for granted. It seems we are all in denial about time except when we need it most. Take a moment now to think about how you spend your time. Do you structure your day? Do you set daily, weekly and monthly goals? Do you carve out time to list the actions steps you need to take to meet those goals? Are there preset appointments on your calendar to ensure you meet with others to move your projects along? If you consider the articles that Forbes has written about the most powerful and successful people and how they spend their time, you will note that most of them get an early start to a pre-structured day. Productive people respect time, and they are successful because of it. They understand that when you don’t respect time, you insult money.
But what about in your personal life? Do you make time to do the things that make you happy? Do you bet on opportunities to try those things you have always wanted to try and, perhaps, kept setting aside? How often do you get together with the people you love? And how much time do you spend meditating or reflecting? If you are honest with yourself, there is a chance you might admit that there are plenty of things you would like to do in this life – plenty of experiences you want to embrace, an array of places you would like to visit, memories you wish to create, and personal goals you would like to achieve. Why wait then? Why assume we have no time? Worse still, why assume we have more time than that which has been divinely allotted? The truth is we can do so much more if we respected our time and committed to making better use of it.
Wish you a productive and fulfilling day!
